About Boredom Busters Dog & Puppy Services
Boredom Busters Dog & Puppy Services was established in September
2008 (originally as Boredom Busters Pet Care Services) in Brentwood by
Linda Ward and she has gained a reputation as a professional, caring and
dedicated dog trainer, also offering dog walking and dog sitting. Linda is
fully insured, has criminal background check through Disclosure Scotland, is
licensed by Defra and Brentwood Council, approved by Trading Standards via
the Buy With Confience scheme and is vet checked annually.
Boredom Busters Dog & Puppy Services has a small team of dog walkers
who work closely with Linda for dog walking, home boardng and puppy
sitting. Each dog walker gets to know each and every dog - you never need
to worry that your dog won't be walked because there is always someone
your dog knows to cover annual leave or sick days.
Dogs are transported in a fully equipped van with custom built dividers
and crates for your dog's safety and comfort. For very busy days, we have
additional vehicles available, driven by our fully trained dog walkers,
insured for dog walking, fully equipped and fitted with crates.
All of our dog walkers are are thoroughly vetted and checked to
ensure they have that vital characteristic - a genuine love of animals,
plus are reliable and trustworthy. They all have training in basic dog
behaviour and are taught about your dog's breed and individual needs.

“I have known Linda Ward for several years now. She originally contacted me for advice
about a very difficult rescue dog that she had taken on when few others would have. She
worked wonders with him, and I quickly became aware of her dedication and determination
to provide the very best care for her dogs. Over the years I have seen her show that same
exceptional level of commitment to her clients' pets. I would have absolutely no hesitation
in recommending anyone to her for boarding, walking or training.”

Work history
My first job was at the age of 14 as a kennel maid for a busy
boarding kennels in Brentwood. I worked summers there for two years
until I left school in 1986 and unfortunately had to get a full time
job.
Since leaving school I have had numerous career changes, from office
worker to taxi driver, then working for the BBC. Eventually though, I
couldn't resist the temptation to come back to working with my first
love, dogs. In 2006 I volunteered as a 'foster mum' for homeless dogs,
and since then I have fostered dozens of dogs (the vast majority being
terriers), including two litters of homeless puppies. A brief stint as
admin and event assistant on Dogs Today magazine in summer 2008 gave me
the idea to start up a dog training and walking business, and the rest
is history!
Dog Walkers
Our dog walkers have all been fully trained, with ongoing help and support from Linda, and
'refresher' training to keep them on top form. The team currently consists of Linda, Graham,
Gerry, Martyn, Jacob and Will, who have all had a criminal background check by Disclosure
Scotland. Emma is our 'student' who helps out during school summer holidays.
Will, Graham, Linda and Jacob have all passed a Canine First Aid course, so at
least one person on every shift (we usually work in pairs) has the
knowledge to care for your dog in an emergency. Will is currently studying
Animal Management at Writtle College and joined the team in 2010. Jacob
and Graham have been with us since 2011, and Gerry, Martyn and Emma joined
in 2012.
Brentwood Twitterati Awards
In July 2012, the first year of the Brentwood Twitterati awards, we were
delighted and proud to hear we'd been shortlisted. We were nominated in
five out of the eight categories: Most Thoughtful Tweeter, Community Award,
Tweetography Award, A Good 'All Rounder' and Lifetime Achievement Award.
The awards are to celebrate Brentwood's Twitter community, and I was proud
to be in such good company as the other nominees. Thanks to everyone
who nominated us, and congratulations to all the winners!
In October 2012 we were a finalist in the Mid Essex Business Awards for Small
Business of the year. Congratulations to the winners!
