Boredom Busters Dog & Puppy Services was established in September 2008 (originally
as Boredom Busters Pet Care Services) in Brentwood by Linda Ward and she has gained a
reputation as a professional, caring and dedicated dog walker and trainer. Linda is
fully insured, has a criminal background check through Disclosure Scotland, is licensed
by Defra and Brentwood Council, approved by Trading Standards via the Buy With
Confidence scheme and is vet checked annually.
Boredom Busters Dog & Puppy Services has a small team of dog walkers who work closely
with Linda for dog walking, home boarding and puppy sitting. Each dog walker gets to
know each and every dog - you never need to worry that your dog won't be walked because
there is always someone your dog knows to cover annual leave or sick days.
Dogs are transported in fully equipped vehicles with custom built dividers and/or crates
for your dog's safety and comfort.
All of our dog walkers are thoroughly vetted and checked to ensure they have that vital
characteristic - a genuine love of animals, plus are reliable and trustworthy. They all
have a criminal background check, training in basic dog behaviour and are taught about
your dog's breed and individual needs.
Linda ensures she stays up-to-date with the latest
developments in the dog world, attending seminars and conferences all over the UK regularly.
She has studied dog behaviour and training since 2009 as well as worked with many well
established trainers and behaviourists to ensure a broad knowledge of different breeds, their
needs, and training methods. Her education is ongoing - we never stop learning and the dogs
are our best teachers!
Linda is working towards accreditation with the Kennel Club Accreditation Scheme for Instructors in Dog Training and Canine
Behaviour (KCAI), and is over halfway, working towards final assessment in 2015.
Linda has appeared with her dogs on television and in magazines and books, and her dogs are
available for television work.

My first job was at the age of 14 as a kennel maid for a busy boarding kennels in Brentwood. I
worked summers there for two years until I left school in 1986 and unfortunately had to get a
full time job.
Since leaving school I have had numerous career changes, from office worker to taxi driver, then
working for the BBC. Eventually though, I couldn't resist the temptation to come back to working
with my first love, dogs. In 2006 I volunteered as a 'foster mum' for homeless dogs, and since
then I have fostered dozens of dogs (the vast majority being terriers), including two litters of
homeless puppies. A brief stint as admin and event assistant on Dogs Today magazine in summer
2008 gave me the idea to start up a dog walking business, and the rest is history!
I have lived with dogs my whole life, getting the first dog of my own in 1993 - there has never
been a day since then that I've been dogless, and I intend to keep it that way!
In my spare time I like attending
fun dog shows, geocaching, spending
time with my family, reading, cross stitching and gardening for wildlife.
Our dog walkers have all been fully trained, with ongoing help and support from Linda, and
'refresher' training to keep them on top form. The team currently consists of Linda, Graham,
Gerry, Martyn, Jacob, Donna and Will, who have all had a criminal background check by
Disclosure Scotland. Emma is our university 'student' who helps out during summer.
Will, Graham, Linda and Jacob have all passed a Canine First Aid course, so at least one person
on every shift (we usually work in pairs) has the knowledge to care for your dog in an emergency.
Will is currently studying Animal Management at Writtle College and joined the team in 2010.
Jacob and Graham have been with us since 2011, and Gerry, Martyn and Emma joined in 2012. Donna
joined in 2013.
