Stop Pulling on the Lead
I found last Saturday very helpful. I've focussed very hard on Sammy this week. He is walking much better
on the lead using the treats - I am enjoying our walks more, thus enjoying Sammy more. It was much better
working in smaller classes – I have been to obedience classes with lots of dogs and it just doesn't work.

- Does your dog drag you down the street leading to backache or aching shoulders?
- Is it hard to get the lead on as your dog is leaping around madly?
- Have you stopped enjoying your walks, or stopped walking your dog completely?
When your dog walks nicely on a lead, you will enjoy the walk more, leading to more walks and a happier,
contented dog. You will learn different strategies to be able to walk your dog in balance – not pulling or
leaning into the lead. Training works best when it suits you and your dog, so we find a method that works
for you both, rather than 'one size fits all'.
We start with the simplest of tasks – can your dog stand still without pulling on the lead? If not we teach
that, and then build up until your dog is walking nicely on the lead. All you need to do is go home and
practise.
Join our loose lead walking workshop, held regularly throughout the year in Essex (near Brentwood).
Linda has given us a number of effective strategies to stop pulling on the lead. After a few weeks we are
starting to see improvements. At the class Linda provided excellent coaching to us and also to our children
so that we can all be consistent when we take him for walks.
