Preparing your puppy with skills for life
I can work on any training you are doing, as well as teaching some basic manners and the basis for a solid, lifelong recall.
Once inoculated and adequately prepared, puppies will be walked for around 10 minutes per visit, progressing to walking the full 30 minutes by 5/6 months.
As part of the service puppies are taught some basic skills where possible within the time - Leave, Drop, Retrieve (ideal for when they run off with your socks or a £20 note!), Recall, Send to Bed and manners at the door (ie not pulling you off your feet when you turn around to lock up!) etc.Dogs can sometimes need some help understanding that a command means the same thing no matter who says it, so if Puppy does not respond to their family as expected a free demonstration visit is available at a convenient time.
For further training I am able to recommend good training schools for your pup - not all methods work for all dogs and a good training school will have plenty to try until they find something that works for your dog.
Advice on raising puppies comes from many sources - your pup's breeder should have given you plenty of information and be available to advise through pup's life. We can back up their service with advice on feeding, exercise, training and training classes, and chewing. If you have any other issues I am able to refer pup to another professional.
Puppy boarding
I will also take puppies in for boarding, depending on their needs. There is a £5 per day surcharge for puppies 12-26 weeks due to the extra time and attention they need. Bookings are only taken for a maximum of 8 days (7 nights).
Puppies under 12 weeks are not normally accepted for boarding, but I may be able to accommodate young pups for short boards or daycare in an emergency.
Puppies must be used to being left. As a dog walker I am out of the house for a minimum of two three hour shifts every week day. Puppies are too young to accompany me on this amount of walking and so need to be able to settle down while I am out of the house. For weekend only boards this is not an issue.
Puppies are walked weekdays before my first shift for 15-30 minutes depending on age and breed. Where my schedule allows I give extra short walks though the day of around 10-15 minutes. An evening walk of 20-30 minutes helps them settle down before bed. Weekends are more flexible as I am at home more, but they will get at least one hour spread through the day.
They also get all the activities listed above for skills for life.
